- にいがたじしん【新潟地震】1964年（昭和39）6月16日， 新潟県沖に発生した地震。 マグニチュード七・五。 死者二六人， 家屋倒壊約二千戸。 新潟市周辺で地盤の液状化が著しく， 以後， 液状化対策が地震防災の重要課題の一つとなった。 また， この地震を契機に， 地震の大きさをマグニチュードより正確に表す地震モーメントの概念が生まれた。
